Go Big or Go Home WHY?

"Go Big or Go Home" Where did this originate?  With sports of course.  Which one?  Who knows? At this point it has become one of the most over-used, tiresome, trite expressions in the entire World.

Not only is it the name of an episode on NBC's Parks and Recreation, it is the title of a juvenile novel by Will Hobbs, Go Big or Go Home, and is imprinted on just about anything that you can imagine, from baseball caps to t-shirts.

Often used to describe a champion's lifestyle, particularly in extreme jumping sports like bmx, skateboarding, snowboarding, sno-mobiles and sky diving, I have now seen it used by a Chicago clothing designer Azeeza Desai as her personal motto, and by geeky tech writers to describe a battle between the Apple iPad vs Barnes & Noble color Nook.

But what "takes the cake" for me is hearing contestants on the Food Network's Cupcake Wars use the phrase to describe their approach toward competitive cupcake baking.

I don' like thees coopcake at all.
